ATTRIBUTES AND SKILLS

The LEVEL of ABILITY a character possesses with certain aptitudes will determine their success or failure.

These abilities are divided into two categories:

ATTRIBUTES

These are innate physical characteristics and abilities that require no TRAINING but can be enhanced by EXERCISE

SKILLS

Although anyone can attempt to use a SKILL – they typically require learning and practise to do well and can be enhanced through TRAINING

Both kinds are rated by a number between 1 and 10 (1 – 7 for humans) which is the number of dice to use when making a roll for that ATTRIBUTE or SKILL

Both can be diminished by FATIGUE or INJURY

The 6 BASIC ATTRIBUTES are:

MIND

Not a reflection of Intelligence but rather Mental Strength, Will Power and Mental Resilience in the face of trauma or disorientation.

AWARENESS

The ability to notice things and process perception effectively. Intuition also.

ENDURANCE

The ability to keep going in the face of fatigue or to sustain injury and trauma before the body breaks down.

STRENGTH

Physical force and power

AGILITY

The ability to move and coordinate the motion of the body, nimbleness

DEXTERITY

Hand eye coordination and the fine motor skills required for delicate work

Beginning ATTRIBUTES may be randomly generated by either:

  • Roll 6d + 3 and distribute
  • Roll 2d for each and halve the result rounding up

SKILLS

SKILLS comprise two or more ATTRIBUTES and are generated by AVERAGING those ATTRIBUTES

All characters begin with the following BASIC SKILLS:

REACC

The ability to quickly assess a situation and react – peripheral awareness and reflexes – INITIATIVE

AWARENESS + AGILITY / 2
